Evergreen Games will be running 8 demos of Spyre at Gen Con. For those who don’t know about Gen Con, this article will give you a bit of information.
The Best Four Days in Gaming
Gen Con is North America’s largest board game convention. While board games are the main thrust of the convention, there are plenty of things for other types of gamers, from Magic to Pathfinder to Wargames to Cosplay to artists and authors! And, there are plenty of things to do in Indianapolis outside of the convention center.
Gen Con has over 70,000 attendees each year. We swarm the streets of Indianapolis, wait in lines at food trucks, buy loads of games, and search for a free table to try them out. There is a fantastic list of upcoming games on BoardGameGeek.com here: Gen Con Preview List
I love to work through that list ahead of time, find the games that interest me most, and then see where those exhibitors are located in the Exhibit Hall. I currently have 46 games on my list, but I will most likely not be buying them all. But that doesn’t mean I won’t want to buy them all! I do love a good Gen Con Haul image!
This will be my 11th Gen Con: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and this year. And this year will be the first that I play a bit of an exhibitor role!
Spyre at Gen Con
Our game, Spyre, won the Panda Game Manufacturing 25 in 25 contest in December last year. My co-designer, Adam, and I have been finalizing development, hiring out art and graphic design, and working with Panda to get updated quotes. Our next steps are to start getting Spyre out into the public, and Gen Con is a great place for that!
We are hosting demos of Spyre in several slots each on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
